Genoma scenico • metodo is an educational and choreographic project conceived and led by Nicola Galli, in collaboration with Giulia Melandri. The project guides young dancers in training on a journey to discover their expressive and creative potential, while exploring the distinctive characteristics of instant choreographic composition.
From 14 to 19 October, the young artists of Körper Young_Extended took part in an intensive artistic seminar that led them through an exploration of different movement qualities, the use of space, collective listening, and the development of readiness and precision in responding to the inputs of instant composition. The seminar culminates in the dancers’ participation in the interactive performance Genoma scenico.
Genoma scenico is a dance performance that explores the close relationship between audience and performer. Structured as an actual game session, it actively involves participants in the creation of short performances through a playful device freely inspired by genomic research.
Just as every human being possesses a unique and inimitable genetic code, the audience is invited to discover the distinctive uniqueness of each performance by interacting with 33 cards arranged on a game table. Through their free selection, each participant can create their own “genomic sequence”, which guides the performers in interpreting and executing the chosen elements in real time, giving rise to a unique and unrepeatable artistic outcome.
