Luna Cenere is a dancer, choreographer, and artist whose work has been produced by Körper | National Centre for Dance Production since 2017. She was an Associate Artist of the Oriente Occidente Festival for the 2019–2020 biennium and was supported by the Residenze XL programme in 2019.

 

She received the Danza&Danza Award for Emerging Choreographer in 2020 for Genealogia_Time Specific. She is also the creator of Kokoro, produced by Körper with the support of Compagnia Virgilio Sieni, Marosi Dans Fest, and L’Asilo Filangieri in Naples, and selected by the Anticorpi XL network. With Kokoro, Luna was selected for Aerowaves Twenty18 and won the Best Choreography Award at SoloCoreografico 2017. In September 2019, she received the Special Positano Léonide Massine Award as Talento Campano (Emerging Talent from Campania).

 

Her subsequent creations include Twin, which premiered at FOG Festival / Triennale Milano and was selected by the Anticorpi XL network; Pneumatika (work in progress), presented at T.A.N. Teatro Area Nord in Naples, the La Democrazia del Corpo Festival in Florence, and the NAOcrea Festival in Milan; Natural Gravitation – Tribute to Isadora Duncan, commissioned and produced by the Ravello Festival and Körper; and Zoé (2021), produced by Körper and the Oriente Occidente Festival.

 

She graduated in Contemporary Dance from Movimento Danza, the Italian National Dance Promotion Organisation, in 2009. Upon completing her studies, she quickly became involved in Naples’ artistic scene, taking part in numerous local projects. In 2011, she moved abroad to continue her training at SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, where she earned her degree. In 2014, she relocated to Belgium.

 

During these years, she attended major international festivals including Deltebre Dansa, ImPulsTanz, and the Venice Biennale, studying with internationally acclaimed artists such as David Zambrano, Francesco Scavetta, Martin Kilvady, Josef Fruček, Linda Kapetanea, Matej Kejžar, and many others. She performed in creations by Anton Lachky (Anton Lachky Company) and Josef Fruček (RootlessRoot). In 2014, she also worked with Simone Forti and Anton Lachky.

 

In 2016, she joined Compagnia Virgilio Sieni, performing in productions including La Mer and Il Cantico dei Cantici. In 2017, she collaborated on Capri-Revolution, directed by Mario Martone, with choreography by Raffaella Giordano.

 

Alongside her work as a performer for choreographers including Virgilio Sieni, Jean Abreu, Leonardo Diana, and Elio Gervasi, Luna has developed an increasingly distinctive choreographic practice, pursuing her own artistic research.

 

A certified contemporary dance teacher through SEAD, she regularly leads workshops, movement research laboratories, and improvisation classes.
